Worky-work, Bizzy Bee!

Where's Rob, you ask? I'm right here, in studio, working my ass off.
Here's what's on my agenda:

1) New Shortbus pages. Getting back into the groove of pumping these suckers out. Got sidetracked from the project during the summer due to other (paying) gigs. Life happens, my friends, but I've got a stack of about 20 Shortbus penciled pages that points to good things.

2) Crowtown concepts and thumbnails. Finally got a good look that I'm happy with for the project. See below for a peek. I'm thinking I may start page thumbnails this week if I can squeeze it in.

3) Kill Fate. What is Kill Fate, you ask? My new comic collaboration with Courtney Huddleston, that's what. And that's all you get for now.

4)This alternate cover for Teddy Scares Vol.3 available only through Diamond. I also have an 18-page story inside (pencils, inks and colors) that will knock your socks off.

5) New studio. Looks like I may be moving into one next month. Sweet...

On a personal note, my wife will be heading for a tropical cruise with several of her family members and crew from work next week. I, having been traumatized by Jaws as a small child, shall not be going.
Five whole days without my better half. I wonder how long it'll take before I'm bed-ridden, eating peanut butter in my undies with my bare hands in between tossing scissors at the ceiling.

Sigh. I miss her already.

More stuff soon.
Peace,
Rob!

Shortbus in 3D Part Deux!

Here are two of my favorite 3D models of my Shortbus Superstars! characters, fresh in from the Dave School. These two nailed the characters the most and have inspired me all over again. They captured the style I've tried to bring to the SB art, and brought something entirely new and fresh to the look. Seriously, it's been a long time since something's made me grin ear to ear like a fanboy. But here they are.

Albert by Ed Ruiz.

I'll definitely be working more with these guys in the future (if they let me). And I'll be doing more work with the Dave School guys in the near future.

Peace,
Rob!

Soul Power!

A little over two years ago, I was commissioned to do a series of tshirts and skateboards for a couple clients. That commission, of course, went completely south, leaving me with a ton of new work (good problem) and no cash to show for it (bad problem).

These pencil drawings have remained untouched in my portfolio since then, sort of a painful reminder, a life lesson. I've always loved these, but the most attention I've given them was repeatedly saying "One day I'm gonna do something with these things."

So, yesterday I finally colored these damn things, and it felt good. Kinda like closing the book on that whole experience.

I'm gonna be selling them as a four-print 9x12 set, and as t-shirts later down the road. Interested parties can email me at rob@robguillory.com

Super Retro.

Yeah...I'm beat. Been a long, busy couple weeks.
Teddy Scares Vol.3 is officially done on my end (barring any revisions...fingers crossed), and I couldn't be happier. Easily the silliest sequential thing I've ever done.
Tomorrow, I'm finishing up a character design commission for a www.wanttobesquare.com pitch. Madness...
More sketches for my collab with Tony Lee coming shortly, as is more Shortbus art.
Speaking of Shortbus, the 3D models from the Dave School are coming in, and I'm pretty excited about them. Look for those in the next couple days.

Peace.
Rob!

SB in 3D!

Concept drawings of two of the Shortbus Superstars! to be made into 3D models by students of The Dave School under the tutelage of William "Proton" Vaughan. Can't wait to see what they come up with.
